”God of War Ragnarök“ PC Port Officially Announced for August 2026, Bringing New Features and the Valhalla Expansion

Sony Santa Monica and Jetpack Interactive have officially announced that God of War Ragnarök will finally make its way to PC on August 14, 2026. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the port promises to be more than a simple conversion, arriving with a suite of PC-specific enhancements and bundling the acclaimed Valhalla roguelike expansion right out of the gate. The announcement, made via the official PlayStation Blog, confirmed that pre-orders are live now on Steam and the Epic Games Store, priced at $59.99.

The PC version of Kratos’s latest adventure will feature a full suite of visual and performance upgrades tailored for high-end hardware. Support for NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS will be available at launch, alongside unlocked frame rates and true 4K resolution. The port will also include ultra-wide aspect ratio support, allowing players to experience the Nine Realms across 21:9 and 32:9 monitors. Jetpack Interactive, the studio behind the well-received PC port of the original God of War, is handling the development once again, and their deep familiarity with the series’ engine should ensure a polished release.

Perhaps more importantly for players who missed the title on console, God of War Ragnarök on PC will include the Valhalla expansion, a free DLC originally released in late 2024. Valhalla is a narrative epilogue that sees Kratos confronting his past through a series of challenging, procedurally generated gauntlets. Its roguelike structure offers a new kind of challenge for the series, and its inclusion in the base PC package makes this the definitive version for newcomers who want to experience the full arc of the story.

The announcement also addressed the game’s technical ambitions. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, senior community manager Grace Chen wrote, “Bringing the Norse saga to a close on PC is something the team has been dedicated to for some time. We wanted to ensure that the game not only runs with the stability and performance PC players expect, but that it takes full advantage of the hardware many of you have invested in.” Jetpack Interactive will implement support for DirectStorage, which should significantly reduce loading times when moving between realms via the game’s iconic Mystic Gateways.

This release marks another major step in Sony’s strategy of bringing its first-party exclusives to PC, a practice that has now become an established part of its business model. God of War Ragnarök, originally a PS5 and PS4 title, launched in November 2022 to widespread critical acclaim, holding a 94 on Metacritic. It sold over 5 million copies in its first week and has since moved more than 20 million units worldwide on console. With the PC version, it is poised to introduce Kratos’s latest journey to an entirely new audience, one that has been patiently waiting for years.

For players who have already experienced the game on console, the PC release might still hold appeal thanks to the modding community that inevitably forms around big PlayStation ports. While nothing official has been announced, the PC version of the original God of War quickly developed a robust mod scene, offering everything from visual tweaks to gameplay overhauls. Given the scope of Ragnarök, the creative possibilities for modders are substantially greater.

The August 14 launch positions God of War Ragnarök as one of the biggest PC releases of the late summer window, standing alongside other third-party heavy hitters. More details about exact system requirements and additional PC features are expected to be shared in a dedicated trailer closer to launch.
