“Sifu” Game Guide

“Sifu” is a challenging kung fu action game developed by the French company Sloclap. The core strategy lies in mastering the intricate combat mechanics, understanding level progression and enemy patterns, and making good use of the environment and skill upgrades.

I. Core Mechanics

(I) Aging Mechanism (Most Crucial) You start at age 20. Each death increases your age by one. The older your character, the more vulnerable they become, with decreased health and defense. Reaching age 80 results in complete failure, forcing you to start over. Crucially, your age at the end of the current level carries over to the next, so minimize your deaths.

Tip: Each level has a shrine that resets your age (making you 10 years younger). Use it before high-difficulty battles. 20-30 years old is the optimal age, with balanced health and damage. Don’t try to survive past 40, as the difficulty increases dramatically.

(II) Combat Mechanics

Both you and your enemy will have yellow posture bars. Filling the enemy’s posture bar will trigger an execution (with a special animation, during which you are invincible). Note that continuously blocking will increase your own posture bar; if it’s filled, you will also be executed. Don’t just blindly block. Holding down the spacebar and using the directional keys to perform a “dodge” is key to dealing with most attacks. A perfect parry (shortly press the parry button the instant the attack hits) can quickly reduce the enemy’s posture bar and interrupt some powerful attacks, but the timing is crucial and the risk is high. A normal block (long spacebar) is used for stable defense.

New players should remember: After a precise parry or dodge, your posture bar will recover. Prioritize filling the enemy’s posture bar before dealing damage; this saves a lot of health compared to directly engaging in a direct confrontation.

II. Tips for Clearing All Levels

(Ⅰ)Prologue: Martial Arts School (Tutorial Level)

Not difficult, mainly for getting used to the controls – block → dodge → counterattack. Pick up the sticks nearby to clear out the mobs. Execute them when the stance bar is full. Remember to dodge after two hits; don’t be greedy with your attacks. Just familiarize yourself with the basic controls.

(Ⅱ)Level 1: Warehouse (Beginner Adaptation Level)

The mobs are very weak. The key is to control your age and try not to die more than 3 times. Don’t panic in group battles; maintain distance and defeat them one by one. Pick up the nearby bottles and stools as weapons; one hit can take down most of a enemy’s health. Don’t waste the environment’s items.

Always interact with the shrine. Prioritize upgrading “2 Focus Bars” and “Dodge Energy Recovery,” which will greatly increase your margin for error.

(Ⅲ)Second Stage: Nightclub (First Difficulty)

There are four difficult enemies: people in the dance floor, the Fire Palm Disciple, the Stick Sister, and finally, the pair of disciples. Here are the techniques for each:

– People in the Dance Floor: Their attacks only have three hits. Side-dodge the first two, then upward-dodge the third. After dodging, follow up with a sweeping kick and a follow-up attack to easily defeat them.

– Fire Palm Disciple: Remember her three-hit combo rhythm. Don’t take the fire attacks head-on; dodge and immediately counterattack.

– Stick Sister: Go in unarmed and use a heavy attack to knock off her stick. Without the stick, her health will be very low.

– Two Disciples: Upon entering, first build up full focus and instantly kill the female disciple with low health, then slowly deal with the male disciple.

Boss Sean: Divided into three phases. The core strategy is “dodge openings and don’t be greedy with your attacks.” In the first phase, dodge his upper attack; after he’s stunned, hit him twice and then dodge. In the second phase, his stick attacks increase; use vertical slashes with side-dodges and sweeping kicks with upward-dodges. In the third phase, he goes berserk; maintain a steady rhythm and save your full focus for a finishing move to easily clear the stage.

(Ⅳ)Level 3: Art Museum (Difficult mobs, easy boss)

The mobs are all elites. Prioritize interrupting their attacks with charged heavy palm strikes to avoid being surrounded. You can use the stairs to get the jade seal, which allows for an extra skill upgrade.

Boss: Phase 1 is slightly difficult. Don’t get too close; use sidesteps to maintain distance and attack when she has an opening during her downward slash. Her mid-range attack has five hits; once you get the rhythm, Phase 2 is very simple. Just dodge left and right to avoid all attacks.

(Ⅴ)Level 4: Tower (Hardest mobs, lowest boss health)

The mobs are in pairs; don’t charge in. Use dodges to build up your energy. Before entering high-difficulty battles, make sure you have full focus and quickly eliminate the low-health elites.

Boss: Looks intimidating, but actually has very low health and many openings. In Phase 1, you can dodge her three-hit attack with a left dodge + left dodge + upward dodge, slowly dealing damage. In Phase 2, she adds a throw attack; remember the timing for dodging. If you’re impatient, just trade blows; her health is very low.

(Ⅵ)Level 5: Apartment (Final Level, Steady Wins)

The final boss doesn’t have complicated moves; its attack rhythm is fixed. Don’t be greedy with your attacks; prioritize dodging and save your focus gauge. Finish it off when it’s low on health. A steady, methodical approach will clear the level; don’t panic.

III. Beginner Tips

Group battles are much harder than boss battles. Maintain distance and attack one by one, making good use of environmental items (bottles, stools, torches). Before high-difficulty battles, it’s recommended to reset your age. Prioritize upgrading focus gauge and dodge-based energy recovery. Don’t be too old; try to keep your age under 40, as health and defense decrease significantly after 40.
